ATOMIUM
at the Lanesborough, London

The "Atomium" Series is themed on the Atomium in Bruxelles, Belgium, and will be shown at the Lanesborough Hotel, London. The famed structure was built for the World Fair in 1958 as the large scale model of the atom, and it became a symbol of the advances in technology and science at the beginning of the nuclear age. Its shape and gleaming presence impressed me so much when I was a young boy that it became an enduring part of my visual memory bank. In this series of paintings I now celebrate its iconic form, its wide range of visual variations and the many ways it has become the seed for shaping the way we perceive the world today.
